The first e-OSCE, which was a significant accomplishment and a key objective of Dominos project, took place on the May 4th 2023 with the active participation of professors and students from the six European universities engaged in this project.
e-OSCE involved performing OSCE tests via Zoom as an online communication tool and Theia as a platform for assessment services. It was a unique opportunity for students and evaluators from the participating universities to experience a new way of testing their skills online. Three stations for each discipline (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy) were performed in parallel, with one Zoom link per virtual room. The instructions to the students, the evaluation, the recording of scores on Theia platform and the simulation of patients were done by professors involved in Dominos project. A total of 33 students from the participating universities took part in this e-OSCE test.
During this event, several surveys and focus group interviews were also conducted to evaluate the efficiency and practicality of these new tools. The feedback from the participants will help the project improve its design and implementation in the future.
Dominos project will continue to offer easy-to-use digital tools with high scientific interest. This e-learning approach should help our students to improve their clinical and soft skills.
